We held our May 2019 Muna Kids English Circle on May 19th. In the Elementary Class we played “Dixit”. In the Kindergarten Class we played “Old Maid” and “Snakes & Ladders”.
Dixit [Elementary Class]
Occasionally we get a small group of kids in our Elementary Class and at these times it’s the perfect opportunity to play “Dixit”! “Dixit” is a 6 player game that really uses the imagination mixed with language. It was very interesting to see how the kids used their imaginations to describe the beautiful images on the cards in the game as they tried to guess each others’ cards.
Old Maid [Kindergarten Class]
This is the classic card game that every Japanese elementary school child knows. In Japanese it’s called “Babanuki“. The rules are simple and most kids already knew how to play it. Since the actions are repetitive, the kids could practice their English target language again and again while having fun!
Snakes & Ladders [Kindergarten Class]
To get the kindergarten class up and moving while still using the same language from “Old Maid”, we played “Snakes & Ladders”. This is the classic “Sugoroku” game, except we had the kids jump around on coloured mats. We had played this game before, and most of the kids already knew the rules. It was a lot of fun to see the kids actively using English!
The next Muna Kids English Circle will be held on Sunday, June 23rd at Tsukiminosato.
