Muna Kids English Circle

We held our sixth Muna Kids English Circle for Winter 2019 on March 3rd. We played “Old Maid” in both the Elementary and Kindergarten classes. The Kindergarten class also played “Snakes & Ladders” to further actively practice their language.

Old Maid

This is the classic card game that every Japanese elementary school child knows. In Japanese it’s called “Babanuki“. The rules are simple and most kids already knew how to play it. Since the actions are repetitive, the kids could practice their English target language again and again while having fun! In the elementary class, we played another version of the game where instead of just making pairs, the kids had to pair up two cards that add up to 10. This enabled them to practice numeracy skills in English while doing math!

Snakes & Ladders [Kindergarten Class]

To get the kindergarten class up and moving while still using the same language from “Old Maid”, we played “Snakes & Ladders”. This is the classic “Sugoroku” game, except we had the kids jump around on coloured mats. We had played this game before, and most of the kids already knew the rules. It was a lot of fun to see the kids actively using English!

The next Muna Kids English Circle will be held on Sunday, March 17th at Tsukiminosato.
