Muna Kids English Circle
We held our second Muna Kids English Circle for Winter 2018/2019 on December 16th. We played “War”, “Red, Yellow, Green, Blue”, and compared animal sizes with “Dobble Kids” cards in both the Elementary and Kindergarten classes. The kids really enjoyed the fast paced action of the games!
War
War is a very fast paced game with super simple rules. The kids quickly picked it up and were happily playing using English. Because each turn in the game is so quick, the kids repeat the English phrases again and again many times. In the end we played in large groups including parents. Everybody had fun!
Red, Yellow, Green, Blue
We played a game using the coloured play mats and the song “Red, Yellow, Green, Blue”. While singing the song, the kids had to jump around on different colours of the play mat. All the kids enjoyed it from Kindergarteners right up to Elementary grade 4 kids!
Dobble Kids
We continued the use of our target language in a game using “Dobble Kids” cards. These cards have pictures of many animals on them. Kids had to choose a card and describe to their parents about the animals on the cards, telling them which animal is the biggest. Things got interesting when parents asked them about real animal sizes because the images on the cards have pictures of animals in many different sizes.
Parent Discussion Time [Kindergarten Class]
The English that the kids used in this lesson is a grammar point which 2nd year junior high school students learn. Even though it is complicated grammar, the kids could understand the English concept and were able to say the English and have questions and answers between them and their parents. We got kids and parents to experience communicative English. What people need nowadays is communicative English! We’ll teach English without considering grammar difficulties but rather what’s useful English.
The next Muna Kids English Circle will be held on Sunday, January 6th at Tsukiminosato.
