Muna Kids English Circle
For the first Muna Kids English Circle of Spring 2018, we got many new cute kindergarten kids. We could also see that our regular members have improved their English abilities since we first began our circle last fall.
Crazy 8’s
This very simple fun card game which uses regular playing cards is similar to UNO and can be played from 3 years old. We saw that regular members can play the game using English they previously learned from our circle with little help from parents or us. They quickly learned the new language we taught for the game after having support from their parents and us a few times, and were able to have conversations in English playing the game with both the previously learned and new language they learned. It’s been half a year now since we started this circle and now we can clearly see the positive results! This is because they constantly come to this circle and parents use English at home with them by playing games. We are very happy!
Memory
The kids played “Memory” during parent discussion time. Some of the kids were quite strong at the game and surprised us. It’s a very simple card matching game which uses repetitive language. The kids got really into it and required little or no support from us to play once they got started. New 1st year kindergarten kids especially did a good job since they could listen well and participate well. We hope these new little members will come back again and again to this circle!
Parent Discussion Time
Parents discussed how to integrate the English phrases they learned in the lesson to daily life at home. Because this is the first lesson for the new fiscal year, we explained once again how important it is to use English at home to improve their children’s English. We also pointed out that parents should speak more English before they ask their kids to speak in English. They can use the language they learned from our lessons at home to slowly introduce English into daily life. We were amazed and happy that one of the mothers took memos of the language taught in today’s game sentences. We have many motivated parents and are so excited to imagine their futures!
